When winter rolls in, everything slows down a little. The social calendar quiets, the mornings are crisp, and motivation? Well… that can feel a bit hit or miss.
But here’s the thing:Winter offers us something no other season does—space.(And hopefully, fewer deadlines and social demands too!)It’s a season to breathe, reset, and build.
Here’s what winter gives us (that summer can’t!):
🌿 A Chance to Settle Into Routine
With fewer distractions and events, winter is perfect for creating a solid training rhythm. Whether you're working toward a run event or simply trying to move more each week, winter gives you the time to focus and rebuild consistency.
🔥 The Opportunity to Build Grit
It’s not always easy to get out the door when it’s cold and dark—but that’s exactly why it matters. Every time you show up for a session in the cold, dark, or wet, you earn double points for hardcore—and double the pride. You’re building a stronger body and a more determined mindset.
🧱 A Strong Foundation for Spring Events
As a group, we’ve found some exciting events to work toward—whether you’re a walker, wogger (walk-jogger), or runner. Training through winter gives us something to focus on, something to build toward together. It’s not just about fitness—it’s about having a reason to keep getting up, even when it’s dark and chilly. Each session gets us one step closer to those start lines… and reminds us that we’re stronger than a bit of cold!
Here’s what’s coming up:👉 The Whangamata Half Marathon👉 The Legend of the Peaks👉 We Run the Forest
Training through winter means we’ll be strong, confident, and ready when the sunshine returns.
🤝 More Support, More Accountability
Accountability—well, you know if you need it or not. Whether it’s a friend, a group, or a plan, winter’s the time to lean on support and lock in those small, consistent wins.
So, what’s the opportunity in winter? It’s the chance to reconnect with your goals, create a rhythm that works for you, and train with purpose—even when it’s not easy. And those are the sessions that change everything.
Let’s make winter count.💙 Anna x
